The great baby monitor experiment, Day 1

Philips Digital Baby Monitor SCD 589 (with Zero-Interference DECT Technology)Beep beep beep beep. Can you hear that? No, it’s only in my house. I was given the privilege of reviewing the fancy ($199!) Philips Digital Baby Monitor SCD 589 (with Zero-Interference DECT Technology) and it arrived today.

The packaging, mesh carrying case, and overall aesthetic are beautiful. I thought I’d need to wait for my husband to get home in order to play with it, but it was quite easy to unpack after all. No hard plasticky bits to bite through and not that hard to figure out which male parts fit into which female parts. It even comes with rechargeable batteries ready to go.

We set it up tonight and played a little dinner table/baby room walkie talkie action and then set it and forget it. Now that I’m typing, I hear beep beep beep beep beep because my husband and son exceeded our pre-set noise threshold during the goodnight routine. I guess I’ll need to read the manual after all.

Sounds \'N Lights MonitorI’ll report back after a few days to let you know how it’s going and then once again when I put it to the real test of high-rise building in Manhattan. Can it beat out my incumbent cheap-o ($20) monitor? I’ll let you know!

Stumble it!
