If you have never heard of this book, well, welcome to the blogosphere. You must be new here.
The multi-talented Rita Arens, who blogs at Surrender Dorothy, has edited an anthology of writings from other parent bloggers. And she did a damn good job.
After reading Sleep is for the Weak, I thought, You know, I don’t really want to bother reading mommyblogs anymore. All that clicking and scrolling is just too much work. I am just going to let Rita Arens collate the best writing she can find, wrap it up in a bow, and present it to me each year. Then, as I did with this first volume (the first of many in my fantasy world), I will snuggle up on the couch and read myself some most excellent essays.
The writing is so clean and clear, I devoured the book within two days. Each time I finished a piece, I wanted to go email the author and send her my reaction. It was so tempting, knowing that these are people who I either sort of know or could get to know, via their blogs. I wanted to thank them for taking the time to articulate their thoughts in such a way that I knew exactly what they meant.
I especially liked the work of Susan Wagner, Finslippy, 3-Kid Circus, and Fussy, writers that I don’t usually read, but whose words were so well-chosen, that I will now.
As I always say about my own book, for your new mom friends who are not going to become blogaholics, give them the gift of these essays, which originated on the web, but are definitely fit for print.

What an awesome thing to read in the morning. I’m so glad you enjoyed it. I am a fangirl of all these people, too!
I haven’t read it yet. It sounds great. I would love to win a copy.

…love your site/blog. I wish I would have discovered this 9 months ago when I had my daughter
Who knew what a huge life change I was embarking on. Thanks and keep up the great writing–it truly is so helpful.
somehow i don’t have a copy of this yet. *prays to random number goddess*
While I love to read other Mum blogs, reading from a book, that you can touch and smell, can fit in your handbag and that doesn’t require battery power is an entirely different experience, but for me it’s now hard to pick a preference between the two! I think maybe the “real thing” may still just come out in front - for the time being!
The book sounds great, combining my two favourite things to do and I’d love to win a copy!
I can see this one being handed out at Christmas time to a few new Mums I know that aren’t into blog reading - yet :o)

Its funny how with motherhood a person can transmute and change so much. Of course there’s the stage where you kind of dissolve and become part of the mommy-baby 24 hour nonstop division.. where you tend to forget yourself and not know who you are except a mother.. But then there’s the stage where you become so inspired by that little being that you are driven to become something much better so that you can be better for them..So that you too can inspire them later.
Since i became a mom (at 21) I’ve kept on studying for college, but also have started to “study” for myself.. I’ve learnt to sew, I’ve started crafting, i’ve had my hand at blogging… etc. Its great to read how other have changed, grown and “bettered” themselves as well in spite of the difficulties of motherhood. Cheers and pat on the back for those of you try to share their experiences (good and bad) whether it be through a blog or a book
I’d love to have this book! I’ve heard so much about it, I’d love to own a copy.
